I've never looked at a bright shining lie that way before. Rumsfeld goes around telling everyone things are going well and then privately he tells people at the same time that things are going badly. So he gets credit for both statements. For the lie for being upbeat and for the truth being realistic. I bet even Orwell never thought of that one. Oh, I see, Rule 025: There's always a way out.
