Hello,
The <ahref="http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/hotshots/2003_10_28/">SOHO
site has some of the best close up images (and mpegs) of the latest flares - worth a look. Also, don't forget to download the SOHO screensaver. It provides same day images.
Does anyone know how the "blackouts" SOHO experiences approx. every three months (due to the incorrectly positioned/inoperative high gain antenna) effects our ability to predicit solar weather, i.e. our ground-based scopes enough?
<ahref="http://www.spaceweather.com/solarflares/topflares.html">Here is a list of the record setting solar flares (since 1976).
Sorry for not posting for a while. I no longer have rights at work to post. Rest assured, I am reading and enjoying the banter in the Habitable Zone.
See ya, Vince
