Actually, I like to see the research continue for possible space-related applications.
For instance, could a Spaceship 1 variant benefit from a scramjet? I don't think the materials science is quite there yet either. These scramjets are so powerful and hypersonic flight is so stressful that it's really difficult to keep everything together. But that's also a line of research that I hope continues.
