From the linked article (emphasis added): With a presidential campaign only months away, Republicans picked up two governorships in the South, ousting Mississippi's Democratic incumbent and seizing Kentucky's top job for the first time in 32 years.
Has anyone else noticed that when Republicans win an election, they're seizing the office rather than winning it? Back in 1994 when Republicans won control of both houses of Congress for the first time in 40 years, the headlines blared "Republicans seize control of Congress". The press makes it sound like some sort of coup is happening when Republicans win.
Here's an experiment. I went to Google and searched on +Republicans +"seized control" to see what turned up. (I'll try to post the search results here. There were 3,110 hits, and they weren't all from crackpot sources like the Democratic Underground, either.
But that couldn't be bias, now could it?
It looks like the Republican candidate for governor of Louisanna is ahead in the polls. They hold their election sometime next week (I think on the 15th).
