Don't know precisely what you mean by "innocent." I know that Israel is a civilized nation, pretty much the only democracy in the entire Middle East (unless we succeed with Iraq), that would not be attacking anyone at all if no one attacked them first. I know that the Palestinian radicals are running the show for the rest of the Palestinians, and that they are rank barbarians who kill children as standard policy, not by accident. And they wallow in this, education children in hate and willing to accept nothing other than the extinction of Israel as an end result.
While I hope someday that the Palestinian situation will be resolved peacefully, if I had to pick which side I'd want to win, it would not be the Hamas psychotics. We really need one more insane Islamist state in the Middle East.
I also know that the Arab world likes the situation just as it is, and has worked hard for many decades to be sure that the Palestinians do not arrive at any sort of a peace with Israel and remain cannon fodder for the Arab agenda.
While I don't think you personally are trying to create a true moral equivalence here, I have seen many people who are, and it makes me furious. It erases the very concept of morality, and relies solely on perception to make judgments. To such people, a serial sniper and a policeman are equivalent because both use guns and sometimes shoot people.
