...why is communism so frightening? It failed and we all know it.
One could, I suppose, ask the same thing about fascism. It failed spectacularly (after becoming rabid and forcing the rest of the world to put it down). But it still scares me.
Just because communism is a failed system and may well be on its way to becoming an historical curiosity doesn't mean it can't eventually resurface and be forced on people all over again.
"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance," is a cliche, I know, but some cliches are still true.
