...I've seen the US from the outside, and could not agree with your thesis more strongly. Everyone knows it...the US is the leader of the world in every way that counts.

Here's one thing I'd really love to see us do for our brothers and sisters worldwide: use our leadership to stop the flood of arms, both small and large. We need to say to those who seek weapons: "We're sorry, but you're going to have to do without."

Further, we could use our ample influence to see that no one else tries to fill the void we leave. It's not anti-capitalism, it's pro-humanity.

It might take a long time, but it would well be worth the investment. And that's exactly what it would be: an investment in humanity.
