You know who I'm talking about. The Left I'm talking about was just as hard over against doing anything aggressive in Afghanistan as in Iraq, and in fact, this is a very good touchstone for dividing the reasonable liberals from the radicals who are simply reflexively anti-American. Dennis Kucinich, a candidate for President, falls into this category.
Some of these same people thought we had 9/11 coming to us for being the utter bastards that we are.
And this is not a couple of hundred people meeting in basements, either. They are in charge of much of the modern protest movement, and the fact that many protesters may not agree with or even know about their agenda doesn't change that fact.
Note that (to the best of my knowledge--I've taken no poll) everyone posting on this board on both sides of the aisle approved of our basic actions in Afghanistan, although there has been reasonable debate about tactics and details.
Keep in mind that other than symbolic significance, the capture or death of bin Laden is irrelevant. Do you honestly think that al Qaeda would just pick up and go back to farming if he was killed?
BTW, I'm already fairly well convinced that he's been pushing up whatever passes for daisies since the war in Afghanistan. It's so damn easy to prove you're alive if you want to.
