The BS intel about the strong ties between al-queda and Iraq has been shown to be worthless, just as the WMD bull is turning out to be a fabrication...
Attacking Afghanistan was about the war on terrorism, the war on Iraq was not- saying it was doesn't make it so... if you think attacking Iraq did anything to reduce the threat from terrorism then you're a delusioned fool- this has made it worse!
_NOW_ we do have al-queda flocking to Iraq and if we botch the reconstruction it WILL become the next haven for terrorists.
What do you think the war against Iraq was about? Are you silly enough to believe it was about oil? An Iraqi blogger shows just how stupid that claim is. But then, what does he know, he only lives there?
Where has it been shown to be wrong, on PBS? Like that's a credible source of intelligence information (or even basic intelligence). Saddam was quite open about supporting terrorist attacks against Israel.
OH DROP THE PIOUS ACT LARRY!!!!!!!
"Who cares about the people of Iraq?" Well WE SURE AS HELL DIDN'T!!! We supported that vile monster quite happily when it suited our purpose, just like we support the saudi regime now- DONT try to tell me this was a war justified by liberation- IT NEVER WAS ABOUT THAT! This is just more "retroactive justification" by the jingoists...
We also supported Stalin during WWII even though we knew he was one of the biggest mass murderers of all time (it's a tossup between him and Mao, with Hitler coming in a distant third place in the body count). Sometimes, politicians and the State Department types make these kinds of decisions based on "realpolitic." Sometimes, they supported the "devil they knew" in hopes of stopping an even bigger evil, such as Iran's attempt to export Islamic fundamentalist government throughout the Middle East. You may not remember the 1980s and what was going on in the world. I do.
Fortunately, those days appear to be coming to an end. We stopped supporting Saddam a long time ago. Go back to read countless speeches by both Clinton and Bush 43. The language is strikingly similar. Both believed the intelligence reports that Saddam had WMD program. Both called him a murderous tyrant who not only attacked his neighbors with chemical weapons but used them on his own people. Both criticized him for committing mass murder.
Maybe you don't care that over 200 mass graves have been found in Iraq. Maybe "never again" is just a meaningless phrase to you (if you even understand what the phrase refers to), or perhaps you only apply it to white Europeans (e.g. Bosnia) rather than "people of color". I don't know what lies in your heart. But I'll tell you this, I do care about stopping mass murder. It is to our and the western nations lasting shame that we did nothing to stop the slaughter in Rhowanda back in the 1990s. Maybe the murder of over 500,000 people means nothing to you, maybe you're more interested in space adventures. If you're that shallow, that's your problem, not mine. You feel free to make uninformed guesses about my ethics without knowing me, so I free equally free to express my contempt for you.
Oh, and have a nice day.
