Its implications

What this means is simply more trouble for American troops in Iraq and more expenses to U.S. taxpayers.

Of course, its predictable. The Iraqis have survived on a culture of fear and personal self interest rather than national altruism and cultural pride. This is why not a one lifted a finger to support the war until they figured out which way the wind was blowing.

Frankly, I am wondering why we felt so compelled to "save" these people from Saddam, given their complete unwillingness to save themselves. In the end, our paternal we-know-whats-best for-you attitude will have the Iraqis sucklling off the American taxpayer for years to come.

Just as Mr. Bush bought off AARP by bankrupting medicare, so too, will Mr. Bush have to buy off the Iraqi people by guaranteeing them jobs subsidized by American taxpayers - something Mr. Bush wouldn't even remotely consider for unemployed Americans.
