MS is small compared to the PS and NSS although possibly more vocal. All three combined are still pitifully small compared to most powerful special interest groups. The aerospace industry has probably had more impact than space advocates in protecting NASA's funding. Unfortunately Zubrin's personality has turned many interested in Mars away from the Mars Society. I do not believe it will become larger than the PS or NSS unless the way it is run changes drastically. I do not see that happening. It is setup to give Zubrin strong control to prevent the kind of aimless leadership we have seen from the NSS and PS for the last 20 years. Both have pretty much been pro-space period and not chosen to prioritize space expenditures to get the most bang for our buck.
