It's almost funny watching the news media get it wrong with Beagle 2. Fox News has an article claiming that Beagle 2 cost $370 million. This is untrue. From what I've read, Beagle 2 cost approximately 35 million British pounds. If memory serves me correctly, Prof. Colin Pillinger originally sold Beagle 2 as a $10 million project. Supposably he ran out of money but was able to wangle the extra cash out of ESA and the British government. Prof. Pillinger will have an "interesting" time explaining to the British Parliament why 35 million pounds was pissed away on something that had almost no chance of actually working.
