No. The modern Democratic Party wants voters who can't think, can't make judgments, can't function mentally above the perceptual level, and adopt whatever the latest slogan was that they heard. Voters who will vote for them in return for a piece of candy*. Unfortunately, not as many Americans, or even Democrats, fall into that category as they would like.

It's interesting that every malapropism from a Republican becomes a legend, passed on from generation to generation, while equally silly misstatements from the Democratic leaders are utterly ignored. Why is that, do you think?

Is the certainty of the intellectual superiority of the Left one of the last few straws you get to cling to?

Cling away. You don't have many straws left. By the time next summer rolls around, amidst dozens of desperate attempts to find something with which to destroy the Bush administration, many on the Left will have sunk to the depraved depths of hoping to God some horrible economic or political disaster befalls America before the election.

*The down side is that these voters have trouble punching holes in cards. I still find it amusing that when some poor voter is functionally incapable of operating a voting system that a third grader could operate, it is always automatically assumed by everyone, Democrat and Republican, that it was a Democratic vote that was lost.
