I get it from observation. I get it from reading things written by Democratic politicians. I get it from their speeches. I get it from their responses to election wins and losses.
Here in California, when a proposition is voted overwhelmingly into law, if it is not something the Left wants, they immediately strangle it in the judicial process. And there is always at least one judge willing to play that game. Not one Democrat has ever said that maybe what the people voted on should stand, even if it isn't part of the party line. Obviously, in their view, the voters were horribly mistaken and the mistake has to be corrected for the electorate's own good.
I have never seen a Democrat lose an election where he did not question the process instead of himself. The voting system was bad. Or if that doesn't work, it's the voters. The electorate was misinformed, or brainwashed, or just plain stupid. To hear politicians talk, no Democrat has ever lost an election simply because the voters didn't like his ideas and policies. Hell, all I heard for weeks after Schwarzenegger was elected in a landslide was excuse after excuse, and contempt for the California voter. The voters had to be idiots--no Democrat could conceive of any other alternative. Tell me, how do you interpret Krugman telling Dean's primary opponents to shut up?
--When Pat Robertson is a viable candidate running for President, get back to me.
--As for Al Gore, if you don't like the electoral college system, start an amendment process to change it. Otherwise, dry up. Had Bush gotten more votes, and Gore won the electoral college, not one bloody Democrat in America would be calling Gore "illegitimate" under exactly the same identical constitutional circumstances. This is normally called rank hypocrisy.
