Did you have a point? Did it have anything to do with the thread below? Or did you just need to get that rant off your chest... in which case, the Flame Board would have been much more appropriate - and easier to ignore.
You certainly didn't object when I invoked that very term almost a year ago, in a discussion of how perhaps "cops of the world" might not only be a good idea, but how - like the cops in your town and mine - they might be duly constituted in international law.
[If the "Earlier" button weren't missing from the TOC again, I'd dig back and find that link...]
In any case, this modern Left-of-centrist is plenty old enough... and would be greatly interested in any counter-example you might propose of a Rightist revolutionary movement, home-grown or otherwise, that arose to overthrow an oppressive Socialist regime. I can think of two: the Nicaraguan Contras, and the followers of Pinochet. Perhaps you'd like to embrace their behavior as a shining example of Rightist moral rectitude.
I make no excuses for the excesses of the power-mad on either end of the spectrum - I abhor them all equally. Their behavior is virtually indistinguishable, regardless of what they profess. Unfortunately, the current issue involves a Rightist regime violating another nation's sovereignty, having used public justifications which have turned out to be very little more than vaporware. Even more unfortunately, that regime has controverted more than 200 years of its own policy regarding national sovereignty (please refer to Raoul's link to the quotes of Thomas Jefferson). Most unfortunately of all, that regime rules the country of which I am a citizen.

- The Right can go to hell.
- I didn't seem to hear much about it when the Communists were subverting governments all over the world. Then the liberal battle cry was "The rights of the people". (n/t)
