You must think we're brain-dead, TB.

Either that, or you are, and desperate for any Macguffin that will rehabilitate the obscene Cheney-Bush record of incompetence, aggression, imperialism and torture.

Afghanistan was a war we had to fight to punish and destroy our Al-Quaeda enemies and their Taliban allies and avenge 9/11. It was the war Cheney-Bush neglected and abandoned in their misguided and criminal effort to steal Iraq's oil and gain a strategic geopolitical advantage in the Middle East by setting up a puppet state with a WMD excuse. All they succeeded in doing was putting intolerable strains on our armed forces, kicking off an enormous budget deficit, and getting the rest of the world pissed off at us--including the Iranians, who you will recall were actually aiding us against Al-Quaeda prior to the cosmologically senile "Axis of Evil" speech.

Obama extricated us from that fiasco as soon as he was able to stabilize the mess the Neocons left behind, we couldn't just leave without restoring some degree of normalcy to the place. Obama will extricate us from the Afghanistan quagmire now that our battle against Al-Quaeda has reached a point of diminishing returns: Al-Quaeda is severely weakened, both operationally and in leadership, and Bin Ladin is dead. But it cannot be defeated because it is a movement, not a country. Even if we could destroy every Al-Quaeda guy in the world with a magic spell, they would be back in business in no time as new recruits materialized. Any further US presence there will accomplish nothing but provide a future nucleus for further anti-Americanism to exploit. We will be out of there by 2014, and concentrating instead on Yemen and the Horn of Africa unless Rmoney wins the election, in which case we will remain bogged down in Afghanistan indefinitely. (Unless he changes his mind about that, too.)

I've been explaining this to you since I started posting on this board, TB. Haven't you been paying attention? Even other Republicans have seen the light. Why else do you think neither GWB nor Cheney were invited to the GOP convention? They screwed up big time, and everybody knows it, so bad even their own people don't want to be seen with them. Cheney-Bush are the reason an unknown skinny black guy with a funny Arab name was able to defeat a respected and experienced Republican war hero in the last election. Haven't you figured that out yet? Do we have to paint you a picture?

Don't make me explain it again. You are obviously too emotionally dependent on your delusional memory of the glory days of the post-millenium GOP White House. Why else would you bring this up again out of nowhere, for no good reason? This is a subject most Conservatives would rather avoid. You supported those clowns and they made a fool out of you. Man up and deal with it. I'm tired of going over this. I am not going to take the trouble of explaining it to you again.

After the fabulously successful Clinton era, Bush was supposed to be the new Reagan, he turned out to be the new Hoover instead. And right now you're shitting bricks that Obama will be the new Roosevelt: once again, a Liberal Democrat saves Capitalism from self-inflicted disaster.
