The anti-war crowd included a few vets who had college funded by Uncle Sugar. A problem with higher education of years ago is that part of it taught one how to think.
That's why so much of the media has a liberal bias, why so many institutions of higher education have a liberal bias, why traditionally the Intelligentsia has been liberal. They know how to think for themselves.
"Dittohead" is the opposite. They tend to believe what they are told to believe. Tend to be Conservatives.
