In regards to the 3-D image of soil it has been said it looks cohesive, like wet sand.
In regards to the "magic carpet" everybody (besides you) says it looks like mud.
Bob, the fact that it bears some resemblance to wet soil means nothing...This is mars- not earth... and who is "everybody", bob? It has some aspects of mud, but to me it resembles a sticky fluffy ash even more...
When the rover finds no water in the "magic carpet" will you admit you were wrong? I wouldn't dig yourself in too deep before the data is in, Bob.... You are very likely to be embarrassed...
