Space/Science » in reply to I think I calculated a 3-G Moon-to-escape launcher to be about 60 miles long.

What would the launcer size need to be to achieve lunar orbit?

Assuming that once the material was launched into luner orbit, it could be processed by an orbiting factory into other materials or else be picked up by an lunar orbiting tug which could then use nuclear or other propulsion systems to accelerate the payload to full escape velocity at a lesser G factor.

I.e. Why launch the materials directly to escape velocity? Where are you sending them to once they escape the moon's gravity well?
