I used the term "dark side" to mean the side of the moon that permanently faces away from earth. It's a lot quicker, that way.
I agree and understand that the counterweight must be considerably beyond geosync. Else, it could not support any weight except the counterweight's. Which means that the cable would pull the thing down.
I'm aware what various companies are doing about 'vators. The only interesting thing about this thread, to me, were the interesting twists in the physics when you conceive of doing it at the moon.
