The inspections were, from the very beginning, based on the idea that Saddam would be less than open loving. That was the the whole point of the 'surprise' inspection regime.
Saddam was a dictator whose only source of power was perpetuating the belief that he was all-knowing, all-powerful, and was beholden to nobody inside or outside Iraq. Saddam being dishonest and obstructionist with the inspectors does not necessarily mean he had something to hide. It could mean that if he was seen as a patsy of powers outside Iraq he would be dead within a fortnight, or it could mean he was simply hateful and petty.
Regardless, the inspections were designed to be effective regardless of the cooperation of Saddam. And apparently they were. Or do you deny that there are no WMD in Iraq?
Perhaps they were shipped to Syria, or drank by the Yeti or some other unprovable and completely convinient hypothesis?
Oh, and despite your statement to the contrary, the only "Saddam Scientists" who claim that Saddam had something and was lying to the inspectors are the INC sponsored defectors like Hamza. I wrote plenty about Hamza and crew before and after the initiation of the war, go look into it.
The rest of the "Saddam Scientists" are saying: "nope, the guy had nothing".
