excitedly baffled

I can compare the way I feel about what we are seeing at Meridiani Planum to the way I felt when Voyager got it's first close look at the moons of Jupiter. Before that mission scientists thought all moons were basically like our own. I remember well the excitement and awe I felt when I first saw the images of Europa, Io and Ganymede. The feelings today are almost like dejavu.
