By the way, the rumor you bring up is a new one on me, and I have no information other than what you wrote. However, I would like you to make a cup of tea, and sit down and think about something.

A woman claims to have been raped by the President of the United States, and then shoots herself.

You assume the President raped her. If you think very hard about it, doesn't a very plausible alternative explanation suggest itself?
