Sure wish I could talk to somebody about this besides myself, but since there seems to be no takers, I'll keep plugging away. Since I can't google the information off the internet, I'll continue documenting my findings here, and perhaps it will be helpful to somebody else at a later date when Google logs this page.
I disabled the policy on the server, but it still didn't take and my XP workstation is still redirecting MyDocuments back to the server. I even logged off and back in 3 times just to make sure it was getting the updated policy. No Dice. I then decided on a whim to try the same thing with a Win2000 workstation. Lo and behold, when I click on properties of My Documents there was a button called 'reset defaults' under the target line. I hit the button and it reset MyDocuments back to the local user profile.
This solves the problem for about half of my workstations. Now I still have to figure out how to fix it on my XP workstations. WHY IN THE HELL DID MICROSOFT TAKE THE RESET DEFAULTS BUTTON OFF OF THE PROPERTIES PAGE!!! Now that I got that out of my system, back to the search engines.
