re: Color anaglyphs redux

All you wrote is true, but I'm not sure how it applies to the question of color anaglyphs.

The basic technique is the same, but instead of using monochrome images (from similar filters) arbitrarily assigned to color channels, you use filtered monochrome images corresponding (roughly) with their proper R, G, and B positions. R comes from the left eye, the other two from the right eye. That's the convention, anyway, and matches the convention of the glasses.

Given that convention, I'm still puzzled as to why the engineers put the broad range of filters on the left camera. I know they're bright people, so what am I missing about color anaglyphs?

As for the separation and toe-in problem, I wonder if trapezoidal skew--narrowing the bottom of the image--would help? Time for some experimentation....
