perhaps you should make your voice heard beyond the confines of this forum Gary. Your Beagle 2 prognosis (ie *before* the 'landing') was accurate & your explanations are comprehensive. Even if the powers-that-be won't listen, others might. I for one enjoyed anticipating the MER successes as they always had a good chance of making it. That won't happen with MSL if you are right. Should some waves be made now - or is it already too late?
