I have also discovered my library carries recent books and DVD's

Great links! Thank you.

Between CD-ROM’s and the Internet, my personal library of physical books. has shrunk considerably. Before I had kids, and I had an extra room, I turned it into a study. I had two walls covered with book filled shelves. I used most of the books for references. Not that I can look up whatever I need on the Internet or in CD’s, I found I didn’t need shelves of reference books, so I donated most of them to my local library.

I still love to read fiction and historical books with the real thing- preferably hardcover, but I love the computer media for storing and accessing information.

For the rest of you, the modern library, at least here in Harris county Texas, you can go online and find just about any book or DVD movie. Reserve it, and they will send it to your local library. It is all paid by my county taxes, so I might as well use it. I discovered this when I was out of work for 6 weeks. I saved a lot of money this way. The movies and books stay current. I just watch the Lord of the Rings Twin towers on DVD this way. I had it checked out for a week. All I needed was a library card.
