Votes
As was demonstrated in the last Presidential election, millions are not necessary, but thousands. Maybe even hundreds, if those hundreds are in the right states.
Popular support for the President is not overwhelming, but neither is popular opposition. As a supporter of representative government, I believe that every vote is important, but sometimes this statement of principle has more oomph behind it than usual. In a close race, every vote counts.
