The United States has already achieved military victory in Iraq. Saddam is behind bars and will eventually face execution. WMD concerns in Iraq have been resolved. Al Qeida terrorists who previously aspired to kill Americans, Englishmen and Europeans are now focused upon killing Iraqis and Shiites.
The issue now is to disengage from Iraq without it collapsing into another Afghanistan. However even the worst case scenario of Iraq subdividing into Kurdish, Sunni and Shiite regions with constant low level warfare is far better than the scenario of Saddam rearming himself with Pakistani, ex-Soviet, North Korean or Libyan nuclear weapons. Also, the Iranian mullahs now have an object lesson concerning what could happen to them if they chose to follow the nuclear proliferation path.

We've already won. The task now is to disengage.
