Tey have done to immigration what they have done to Social Security, and agricultutal subsidies: Created another ticking timebomb.
Until there are term limits, nobody is going to take on these really tough issues. Re-election is the order of the day.
With that in mind, I think Bush has been the first President to actually take some steps in the right direction. We need to face it: Thecurrent political climate is such that the immigrents WILL keep coming. So we need to address that reality first...Then deal with the "whole immigration issue" later.
Bush is practicing responsible incrimentalism.
Again, the immigrents WILL keep coming: So do we pretend that they won't and set up more bad policy as a result?
Bush is sying lets deal in reality and Truth.
It would be a great first step.
