That would be a refreshing change

Before January 21, 2001, the political climate was such that there wasn't a whole lot which could be done in this regard. Based on the knowledge available no one would have been able to stir up much energy for jerking civil rights, increasing the lines at airports, and so on. Imagine if Clinton had tried to tell the American people that they were going to have to spend an extra hour, minimum, at the airport before every flight.

If you had any honesty whatsoever, you would have put that date down as September 11, 2001. To claim that the terror environment suddenly "changed" when Bush took office is inane.

Of the thousands of warnings that the FBI gets daily, say they get one that says "Osama bin Laden plans to hijack airplanes and crash them into buildings in the near future," a statement far more specific than ANY that was in any of the so-called "warnings" the tinfoil crew keeps bringing up. Look it up yourself. Washington Post. You do the frigging legwork for a change.

Now what?

Based on this warning alone, and assuming we just ignore the ones on blowing up ships, wrecking railroads, assassinating politicians, hijacking tankers, car bombs, embassy attacks, and all the rest, do we implement the massive expense and inconvenience we are going through now? For no perceivable reason that would make this particular warning, prior to the attack, any more urgent than any of the others?

Would Clinton have done it? Would Reagan? Would President Gore? Would anyone?

Were you aware that at the time of the hijacking, nobody had a problem with boxcutters on planes? I routinely carried a tool that contained a razor sharp knife, and nobody complained.

Should we have started investigating and busting Middle Easterners taking flying lessons? All of them? Liberals would have squealed like stuck pigs about "rights."

This "Bush knew" crap doesn't stand up to any examination at all, because you know damn well that no one on Earth would have done it any differently under the same circumstances.
