OK. (It seems to me that some people try to blame Clinton for everything EXCEPT the surplus GWB inherited and squandered. And that GWB isn't responsible for what has happened on his watch.)
If Clinton knew of plans for 9-11, as you imply, he would have learned through diplomatic channels or intelligence. Assume Clinton did have specific information. Somewhere in the transition BUSH WOULD HAVE ALSO HAVE BEEN TOLD. And had 8 or so months to do something about it.
Where is that wrong? If it's correct, how is it relevant to say that Clinton dropped the ball and GWB DIDN'T?
And what about the budget? Doesn't that say something about the relative interest the Clinton and Bush Administrations had in counter-terrorism?
But Bush won't tell you even in vague forms what intelligence he had. We DO know from FBI agents that there was enough information available to the President to cause very serious concern that particular individuals were going to do something drastic with hijacked airplanes.
And Bush was President. Clinton could not have done anything about 9-11. As the Navy would say, it happened on Bush's "watch".
Shit happens, sometimes, but to have the Bush Administration's senior security advisor claim WTC was the result of a completely novel approach to terrorism as far as they were concerned is flat scary. And Bush won't come clean with the American people. That's distressing.
