When did Johnson or Nixon ever declare "major hostilities over"? Of course, they didn't.
And they didn't have someone fly them onto an aircraft carrier and stand in front of a "Mission Accomplished" banner. (And no juvenile BS about the banner referring to the cruise. GWB & Co. are very careful about what backgrounds they use.)
So, the quagmire started on May 2, 2003, wouldn't you think? The day after GWB declared victory.
But I'm gathering you don't think it's a quagmire? You don't thing the American military is stuck in a situation it can't win and where it will suffer casualties as long as it's not in garrison.
Is that because Rumsfeld said "I don't do quagmires"? Is that because a quagmire would be politically embarrassing? Or what?
Because denying a quagmire sure doesn't fit the facts.

- The first two don't make a quagmire, but the encouragement to AQ in item 3 is helping a lot. (n/t)
