Both Clinton and Bush had/have elaborate systems to damn near automatically smear anyone who dissents from their line.
In Clinton's case it was more geared to the women who accused him of or claimed a sexual encounter. Those people were slandered immediately.
In Bush's case it's people like O'Neill, who leave, talk about what happened, and get smeared.
One would have to ask why a person would lie? Why would they tell that lie?
In the case of Medicare, it's accepted it will cost more, some folks are outraged and think the bill, a giveaway, passed under false pretenses.
Other people felt the pressure and the bribery on a scale which offended EVEN THEM, where that goes on all the time.
Are they all lying.
I guess reasonable people have to make reasonable assumptions, and come to reasonable conclusions.
