Found my Nero 55 disk, loaded it. Found the Knopix program at the indicated site.
Bought a bunch of CD-R disks.
Open Nero, can't find a way to direct it to the program at Purdue. Can't get it to the internet. Can't get Explore to 'see' the disk in the drive.
Decide, what the hell, I'll download the program to my HD, then move it to the CD. Start the download.
Well, this is the method I would use, that is, download it to the hardrive through Internet explorer, then 'move' it to the disk via the cd burner.
After 5 minutes it's speed is 4.1 whichits from a DSL 256 connection, which usually downloads at 27 whichits. Will take 2 days to download the thing, so I decide to not do it right then.
A couple of thoughts. I could try another site and another protocol besides ftp, I could see if there's an upgrade for Nero which would 'see' internet sites.
I ussually start a download from several ftp sites, and kill all but the fastest one ;-)
"The hell with it" is not an option at this point. The matter has become personal.
So, I'll post this to keep the thread alive, and let you know when I've made any progress. Gotta go get Ma Bowser home from the hospital before she tears it apart.
Arf
Well, if shes about to tear it apart I guess thats a good thing. . .
