I liken it to putting something off on layaway, and then failing to make the last payments. . . . everything spent up to that point was just flushed down the toilet.
Well, thats what we did in Vietnam, except we were playing with money, we were playing with lives. Every drop of blood was just washed down the drain done for nothing once we gave up under preasure.
And this is what I think of when I hear someone saying 'We need to pull out of Iraq'. Its only when we give up in the face of adversity do we really turn our backs on every person who gave thier life. It is when we don't commit ourselves to the fullest(ala the slow buildup in Vietnam, ala BS political limitations put on our commanders) that we pay more that we should.
Now come to S. Korea and ask that question again, that was 54,000 American lives.

The reason they died was made in vain the moment we pulled our forces out of the country.
