Current Events » in reply to Donald, please explain you view on why Saddam was playing musical chairs with the weapons inspectors.

It doesn't matter, but...

...if you insist on making so much of this excuse to go to war, so be it...The claim that Saddam was "playing musical chairs" is an exaggerated bunch of hogwash and superfluous to the real problem, here.

Saddam's problem was that he couldn't effectively document what he actually did with his stocks of chemical weapons he developed in the mid-1980's. Fact is, his inept bureaucracy, made even less capable by the first Gulf War and the years of sanctions to follow, didn't properly document the chemical weapons he actually disposed of. So we went to war because the sanctions were working so well, Saddam's government was practically falling apart all on its own.

What we required of Mr. Hussein was for him to prove a negative...something not physically possible for him to do. Its kind of like a parent demanding a son to prove he doesn't smoke dope.

The truth is, like the paranoid parent who believes without proof his son is smoking dope, so too did we believe Saddam had weapons of mass destruction without proof. The problem was ours, not his. And the price of our paranoia is almost 700 American soldiers and thousands of innocent Iraqi cilivians dead. We could have easily waited to see what the U.N. inspectors were able to accomplish. Had we, these people would still be alive today and we'd have hundreds of billions of dollars still in our national treasury.

Its a crime. And Mr. Bush is the perpetrator. I believe he is unfit to lead this nation and should be tried for war crimes along with Saddam Hussein.
