More on explosives, and OKC

First off, the destruction of the Murrah building was due to the ANFO bomb, that Nichols and McVey built the only question I have is if they had help- that is IT

Explosives can be scarily simple to make, fertilizer and fuel oil, for instance... (I wont mention the proper ratio for obvious reasons), the instructions I have read for making ANFO (published by our own government, to instruct our own terrorists, err umm 'freedom fighters' in the art of 'improvised munitions'... the publication also instructed how to make a good airplane bomb) says that you need to grind the fertilizer into a powder...(maybe this isnt required, ANFO is not something I have made). So while making ANFO is simple, if you have to grind the fertilizer it isnt easy for 2 men to build a 3000+ pound bomb from it... especially in a day by the lake...

I have wondered if there werent a few co-conspirators, I never thought there was any government involvement, or foreign involvement, I do hope we got the 2 vipers that did it _all_...

On a side note, the explosive of choice for suicide bombers is TATP- I wont even spell out what it stands for, but you can get the 3 ingredients needed to make it with a trip to a home improvement store and a beauty salon... I made it in teaspoon amounts as a kid- It is an extremely dangerous explosive- the speed at which it burns makes gunpowder like an oily rag, I once lit a loose pile of TATP, maybe a teaspoon full, the detonation was instantaneous (as far as the human eye could tell) the shockwave could be felt in my chest... It is very shock sensitive, The shoe bomber used a plasticized version of TATP- he was lucky he didnt lose his foot, and most his body, walking to the flight gate... (although plasticizing it makes it more stable)

I studied explosives for a while after 9-11 when I had an idea for remote detection of them using lasers... it turned out others were already looking at that, with far more funding and expertise... What I was hoping for was a standoff detector of explosives and landmines- people are looking into such a thing... I think it will happen- It will make terrorist bombings a lot more difficult.
