The political impact of something like this on a movie audience that may not be up on a lot of the science is not something to be ignored.
Ironically, the movie "China Syndrome" was one cause of a widespread hostility towards building nuclear power plants, which are a major solution to CO2 emissions in the atmosphere.
I stand by both of these statements, which mean exactly what they say. Movies (and of course, books,) can be and have been used as political weapons--on any side of an issue--and movies that supposedly are based in science but are in fact full of scientific fallacies and myths have done some damage to our technological progress. The one I mentioned was among the worst offenders.
Hollywood has a leftist political axe to grind that a Viking berserker couldn't lift, and this covers a lot of subjects besides science.
This is NOT a call for any form of censorship. Maybe a call for movies that tell the whole story, or science movies that actually contain some science.
