This is a timely topic.
Not only has this unorthodox geophysicist from UCLA
claimed there will be AT LEAST a 6.4 magnitude earthquake somewhere
in Southern California by Sept/05, this year, he claims to have a 'successful'
scientific prediction track-record.
This topic should interest those of you in California; Tom, Delbert, et al...
The geophysicist doesn't say where the quake is most likely to hit in
Southern California [big area, anywhere from San Diego to Big Sur?].
Having experienced a 5.0 magnitude quake in downtown LA, one night
in December/1989, I can say that a 6.4 mag quake [40 times larger],
is nothing to be despised.
Well...At least you don't have to worry about Southern California
becoming an "island" after a mythical 10.5 mag quake, like in this coming
NBC TV movie.

- So far, a 4.4
- A similar prediction was made back in the early 90s about the New Madrid fault.
- That's a rather specific prediction

- One would almost hope it happens.
