re: Columbia Hills

Nice work, Doug. "Approximate true color" leaves a lot of wiggle room for everybody, but there's a definite relationship between your colors and mine, mainly in terms of degree of saturation. As I've been working with the PanCam software I've been constantly comparing its output to NASA's work, and it's struck me how much NASA "likes" high saturation in their images. My gut still tells me it's not "natural" (bearing in mind that I've never been to Mars myself...), but I find myself these days ending up with more saturation than I used to (e.g. in the Lion King panorama). I guess unconsciously, one image at a time, NASA's converting me to their world view...so to speak.
