Jacob, I do so agree that compared to the past, JPL has done an outstanding job on getting stuff out to us. I'm just worried that unless our space exploration stays front page, that the public will become jaded and forget that the most successful missions in robotic history are still going. Their websites have attracted countless millions of hits since the mission began and I see amateur digital photos all over the internet utiliizing those raw images they've let out.

I understand fully the implications of mission budget overruns that can come with unexpected longevity as we're experiencing and shrinking staffing to compensate but with all those enthusiastic hobbyists out there, many with website and digital photo manipulation skills, a good administrator could easily create a volunteer workforce to help out the paid staff.
