Speculation does not, and never has equaled verification for one damned thing.

Observe the evidence -- or rather the lack thereof -- for not a single shred of hard evidence identifying a single UFO as being of ETI origin exists on this planet -- anywhere.

The planet Earth is a "single" speck in the cosmic everfar of the grand Universe -- and yet so many human troglodytes today continue with the antiquated thinking that this very same Universe simply "must" revolve around humanity (because some god said so), to the point that ETI simply must come to Earth today to check us out.

Why would they even bother? As you say, we’re obviously no “threat”.

Today, we know that the Universe is expanding at such a rate that we will likely never get out of the Milky Way galaxy. By the time we ever reach the edge of the galaxy, the next galaxy will have accelerated to such a distance that reaching it would likely be impossible -- but that's okay. This galaxy is ours. All of it. Every single bit of it. Discounting the possibility of innocuous microbes yet to be discovered, we are totally alone within it. It is ours to exploit as we will.

...Provided we ever get our collective act together enough to get the f**k out of LEO and just take the damned plunge! We have so many nice, sweet proverbs for every occasion, and we pretend to be smart enough to follow them when appropriate -- and yet all our eggs remain in this one, single basket, just waiting for the next planet-killing impactor!

But we'll do it. Not in my lifetime. Not in yours. And very probably, not within this century -- or the next. But we (they) will.

Look around, and think about it.
