Some people seem to believe that we should all follow the immortal words of Rodney King when he asked, "Can't we all just get along?"

There isn't a lot of middle ground for negotiating with people whose goal in life is to force everyone back to a 7th century existance. I don't see a lot of room for compromise with people who want to put my wife, mother, sister, daughters-in-law, and soon to be born granddaughter into burkas and a less than fully human existance or consider everyone who doesn't follow their particular flavor of Islam as infidels.

If most of Europe wants to pin their future on soft power, then feel free to do so. Only, when it fails as it probably will, don't come crying for America to bail you out yet again. It's well past time for Europe to be responsible for all of its own security needs. If you believe there is no threat, then there should be no problem. If you think a threat exists, then it's your responsibility to address it. The US has spent trillions on European defense over the past 60 years. Its time to pay your own way for a change.
