critters everywhere........

Yesterday our local police were called out to deal with a 200lb + black bear up a tree at the local elementary school. This wasn't exactly the sort of criminal they are trained for.

Encroachments on habitat create some great natural conflicts here in Florida. Calling the Fish and Game department is an exercise of the speed dial in my neighborhood. Our little lake makes a safe haven for alligators, otters and other critters that don't belong in a gated community.

As for your encounter, I have observed that "Pogo" has a whole mouth full of very sharp teeth and no hesitancy to show them.

Part of the charm of Florida is that all species seem to thrive here--and this can be a real problem. Botanicals brought in from colder climes have no dormant season to restrict their growth and spread. Exotic animals from the rest of the world find Florida hospitable, including crocodiles and panther.......as well as a stray Canadian or two.
