Off Topic » in reply to Movies, the nagging conscience of some Americans

God, is my point that hard to get across?

One more time: I'm not looking to silence critics. I'm looking for some goddamn balance.

Can you name a well-known movie made in the past ten years that showed America as something to be proud of? Remember anything heroic? Last movie I saw that showed the military in a positive light was "Top Gun." How long ago was that?

Balance.

Did you read my bit on the flame board? If you love someone you can criticize them, but never extolling their good points, and telling them for years on end that they're scum, a failure, downright evil, and a useless piece of shit that will never be any good for anything, moves past honest criticism and into an area where I think the critic might have an issue or two.

Michael Moore will make millions on a film that will be a solid pack of lies. Everything he has done so far has been, and I don't see how this will be different.

What's really sad is that he knows he's lying, and the audience giving him a standing ovation knows he's lying. He's not admired for telling the truth, he's admired for being the vanguard of a political movement.
