Blackhawk down was a movie I didnt see when it first came out because I thought it would be silly ra-ra bullshit like 'top gun' was... I rented it a few months ago and was surprised... it was more of a serious documentary... I was impressed by our people's professionalism...

Saving private Ryan was an amazing movie- showed how our troops went through hell on earth and kept their humanity... I left that movie feeling a little pride, and appreciation...

Tears of the sun, portrayed our soldiers as selfless protectors...

I think you are taking from the movies what you want... You really dont have a point here, Tom.

You WANT to feel that hollywood tears down america, but that just isnt supported by the facts... and while we are at it let me ask a question... "Why is it any critical examination of america is considered 'tearing it down'?"

Most of our greatest advances have come through controversial self criticism- THAT IS WHAT MAKES AMERICA GREAT! A minority can point out when we are on the wrong path, and when they have right on their side there is a good chance they will swing the rest of us around- womens rights, the civil rights movement... these were all unpopular, even blasphemous movements at their time, but people fought the good fight and pissed people like you off...

It is the fact that we have no fear of protesting our society's ills that makes our country what it is..

Maybe you think the current war is just, but even YOU cannot think that all our wars have been just- and when you feel your country is doing wrong there is a responsibility to say so... The only true cowards are those that say 'my country, right or wrong'...
