re: Fresnel Lens & OTEC hybridization

Hybrid Fresnel Lens - OTEC Design:

Fresnel lens Diameter = 3170 meters
Solar orbit radius = 2 million km
Fresnel lens operating temperature = 1698 deg. Kelvin (quartz type-214)
Collimated beam power = 56.64 terawatts
Average beam distance = 149.6 million km
Beam spot size = 40,000 meters diameter
Receiver operating temperature = 959 deg.Kelvin (asbestos)

Submerge the receiver in the ocean, and point the beam at it. Steam generated from seawater could drive a turbine, and coolant water from deep under the sea could be pumped up to replace the volume that is vaporized, thereby preventing the sterilization of the surface layer of the ocean.

Electric power generated = 14.26 terawatts (replaces all other forms of energy worldwide)

Beam splitters in geosynchronous orbit might deliver multiple beams to all the world's coastal cities, to generate power locally. Inland centers might use superheated air as a working fluid instead.
