It is a capital mistake to assume that intelligence or the ability to think is synonymous with a formal education. Obviously, they're not mutually exclusive either, but it needs to be judged on a case-by-case basis.

Just for the record, Pol Pot was a Marxist, went to college for four years in Paris, and was a private college teacher in the early 1950s.
