re: And who did we turn to recently to help alleviate high gas prices?

Who did we negotiate with recently to help alleviate high gas prices? Saudi Arabia. A foreign country. Why? Because we can't get any more oil out of domestic oil wells. The shift has begun.

Oh, the third solution:

1. Cellulosic bioethanol.
2. Coal liquefaction.
3. Drilling in the ANWR.

And more measures:

4. Flexible fuel equipped vehicles.
5. Increased fuel efficiency.
6. Hybrid engines.
7. Clean diesel.

And Ultimately:

7. Supermileage: The One-Liter Car (don't tell me it can't be done).

And 200 mpg fuel economy is not uncommon for motorcycles, especially in India and China. These countries are nearly self-sufficient, that's why they choose domestically-built and domestically-fuelled motor vehicles. What the G-8 countries do is a recipe for dependency.
